Mel Rees Memorial Tournament to be run again

The Memory of one of the best loved Keepers at the lane will live on again, In a special soccer tournament later this month.

After last years event,the Mel Rees Memorial trophy tournament will be held again this year in a tribute to the former goalkeeper.



Mel died at the age of 26 from cancer, Although he only play'd a small amount of games for the blades he won the hearts of the fans.

he gained special status with the fans when he play'd in the relegation fight in season 1991-1992 while suffering with the cancer,

The Tournament will be held on the 26 June at Uniteds Hallam FM Academy (shirecliffe)

They are hoping to beat last years raised money (£1000) for St Lukes Hospice,

And all been well should do so, by trying to get ex united and ex wednesday players to take part in the games.
