Like the Foxes, the Blades will be looking to outshine the Championship with promotion come the end of May. However United have been looking to do this since they were relegated from the FA Premier League in 1994.
Neil Warnock is keen to get the Blades into the big time and his enthusiasm may have been shown after splashing out 1.3 million on Paul Ifill (Millwall) and Danny Webber (Watford). Whilst these are the clubs only cash signings, you can add Lilan Nalis (Leicester City), Craig Short (Blackburn Rovers), San Lee (Brentford), Kyle Nix (Aston Villa), Gary Mulligan (Wolves) and Sharu Naraji (attached).
Though as players arrive some must leave, the unfortunate to leave Bramall Lane where: Danny Cadamarteri (Bradford), Tommy Johnson (Scunthorpe), Andy Liddell (Oldham), Ashley Ward, Danny Haystead (released), Luke Beckett (loan, Oldham) and Danny Cullip (Nott's Forest).
Sadly for the Blades they will have to do without summer signing Craig Short who will serve a ban after being sent off at the end of last season for Blackburn Rovers during there 3-1 defeat to Fulham at Ewood Park.
As for the visitors, Craig Levein will also have to do without key defender Danny Tiatto, the former Manchester City man will sit out the curtain-raiser as he serves the second of a three match suspension.
Meanwhile fellow City team mate Stephen Hughes is likely to miss the game through a knee injury whilst defender Patrick Knisnorbo has yet to recover from close season surgery.
Striker David Connolly should start, the frontman who will be partnered by once United target Mark de Vires has just recovered from a niggling groin strain. Keeper Rab Douglas should make his full Foxes debut after his transfer from Scottish giants Glasgow Celtic.
