Matthew Lowton will miss Sheffield United's Carling Cup first round match at Hartlepool through suspension. The defender must serve a three match ban following his straight red card received in the 1-1 draw with Cardiff on Sunday. Kyle Bartley is eligible to play following his season-long loan switch from Arsenal, however fellow new signing Stephen Jordan is out of the match with a calf strain picked up in pre-season training with Portsmouth. Blades boss Kevin Blackwell will also be unable to call upon Daniel Bogdanovic, Mihkel Aksalu and Ched Evans who are away on international duty with Malta, Estonia and Wales respectively. Due to the number of players unavailable Blackwell looks set to include youngsters Kingsley James, Jordan Chapell and Phil Roe in his squad to face the Pools.
