Australian defender Lowry arrived at the club from Aston Villa two weeks ago until the end of the season and has started in the Blades' last two matches.
Lowry said: "Morgs has told me to work hard and enjoy my football and you can see he's such a proud man to be captain of this club.
"I want to learn from him because he has a wealth of experience, that can only be beneficial to my development."
Lowry, who moved to England at the age of 15 to sign for Villa, added: "United have a great history and tradition and everything is of Premiership quality.
"They`ve had some fantastic players over the years and that's something I want to be part of."
