Long, 22 is out of contract this summer but the Blades have issued a new contract but with last month's dismissal of Nigel Adkins, negotiations were put on hold. Following the appointment of Chris Wilder Discussions between Long and his representatives have once again begun with terms "basically" being agreed.
Long is currently the Blades only professional keeper on their books with Academy starlets Aaron Ramsdale and George Willis waiting in the wings.
