The academy graduate got in a tangle and headed the ball towards the underside of his own crossbar, and replays show that the whole ball nowhere near crossed the line. He admits that he is frustrated but confesses that their is a positive mood in the dressing room.

After the game, the 20 year old said: "I thought we did very well as a team so it was really disappointing to go out to a goal that never went in. I heard the referee blow his whistle and their fans cheering but I just thought it was play on.

"One of the lads told me that the big screen had shown a replay and the ball hadn't gone in. My reaction was to put my head in my hands after I realised that the ref had given the goal, although I am not going to blame the officials because it is a hard job.

"It is upsetting to go out of the FA Cup, but everybody performed well and it won't be too hard to lift the players because the spirits are already high.

"We did brilliantly against Premiership opposition for two matches so we can take plenty of positives into the game on Sunday."
