Kevin Blackwell has been in long talks with Roy Hodgson in regards to extending the Finn's loan at the Blades, and the United boss was initially successful in his request. The club announced earlier this afternoon (Thursday) that the defender will continue to ply his trade at Bramall Lane on a loan basis, but Fulham, just hours after confirming the extension, recalled the 31-year-old because one of their other defenders went down with an injury.
The Blades gaffer now has problem with his left-back position for Saturday's televised game at Leicester City. Andy Taylor, who missed last week's draw at QPR with illness, is touch and go, whilst Gary Naysmith is still on the road to recovery, but isn't a million miles away from first team action. Jordan Stewart, who has predominantly been used as a substitute on the left-wing, could fill the position.
