The 25-year-old netted some vital goals in United's Premiership season, some of those including Charlton away and West Ham at home. And despite his chances being limited at the beginning of the season in S2, he made his way down to Suffolk to join Ipswich Town.
He said: "I joined the club when they were in the Premier League and scored some goals and really enjoyed my time there. As time went on my chances became more limited but looking back on my stay in Sheffield, I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are some great people there and I'm looking forward to going back.
"I was disappointed with the number of chances I got under Kevin Blackwell but I left on good terms. The fans were always great to me. They realised that I needed to get more games and I wouldn't have changed the move to Ipswich for anything in the world.
"Its obviously a big game for both clubs. They need the points to keep their play-off push going and we know we need to win most if not all of our games left to have a chance of finishing in the top six.
"We have played well away though and have proved we can go to places like Wolves and Reading and get a result so we will go there with confidence."
Of course Jon Stead will be travelling up to South Yorkshire team-mate and former Blade Alan Quinn. I wonder if they join the list of former players to score against the Blades this season?
