Jagielka who is an academy product from Sheffield United may be chosen by England manager Fabio Cappello to start in the first eleven.
Experienced Rio Ferdinand and John Terry may start but Jagielka may be chosen over the Champions League finalists by the Italian. Blades boss Kevin Blackwell has been with Jagielka for quite some time in his career. Blackwell explains how he deserves the call up.
He said:"I spoke with Phil and told him to go out there and show the potential that we always knew he had and that has got him this far.
"The very fact that he's involved at all says something about his ability but you could always see, even from a very young age, that he was going to be pretty special.
"Phil is still in regular contact with a lot of the lads here and it's pretty clear that we will always be the second most important club in his life.
"Behind, of course, the one he is actually playing for. We should take pride from that."
Fellow Everton defender Phil Neville said:"He fully deserves his England call up because there is no one more consistent as a defender in the Premier League than Jags.
"He's been absolutely outstanding this season. He was my room mate at the start of the season and we hit it off straight away. He's not shy isn't Jags - his nicknames are microphone, amp, any loud name!
"His character fits perfectly into this club and his performances have been outstanding."
