United shipped in David McAllister from St Patrick's Athletic last week, but he won't be available till January.
It seems Gary Speed is keen to take a look at more Irish talent by having a further examination of Galway United's Seamus Conneely.
The 22-year-old trained with the Blades last week in order to impress to possibly secure a permanent deal at Bramall Lane.
The United boss has said he wants to have a further look at him. He said: "We had him training with us last week and hopefully will again next week so we can monitor him closely.
"At 22 he will need to be competing for a first team place but a lot of good lads have come over from the Irish League in recent years and done well, Kevin Doyle and Shane Long for instance at Reading."
Despite Speed stating Conneely is on just a trial, the Daily Mail say that a deal has been struck between the two clubs for £60,000.
If Conneely was to sign, he would join a party of players at Bramall Lane who have Irish connections. Stephen Quinn, Mark Yeates, Andy Reid and David McAllister are all Irish. Conneely, however, is actually from London, but has spent all of his career across the sea.
