It's very likely that the centre-back is packing his bags and moving elsewhere, possibly on to bigger and better things. Kevin Blackwell has even admitted that he is virtually resigned to losing the former Leeds man.
Kilgallon, whose contract runs out in the summer, has been linked with several clubs, mostly sides who are in the Premier League, but it has been well documented that Championship rivals Newcastle United are chasing Killa's services, even though they have the likes of Fabricio Coloccini and Jose Enrique.
Kevin Blackwell, who yesterday (Wednesday) signed Marcel Seip from Plymouth Argyle, has set Matt and his agent a one-week deadline to choose whether he is to remain a Blade or if he is to seek pastures new.
"There has been a real grapevine of whispers of where 'Killa' may or may not go, but all I know is that unless there is a proper bid he stays here," said Blackwell.
"There is a strong possibility that he could go but at this stage I am not resigned to it. What I do want is clarity on the situation because it is frustrating having to cover all the bases.
"We have given Matt and his agent one week to decide if they are determined that he moves on. We have a club to run and if by the end of the first week in January he is still here he will be staying unless something unforeseen happens."
