"We were methodical, organised and disciplined," he said. United have a huge goal threat. Billy Sharp is a super player at this and the level above. We knew it would be tough to keep a clean sheet. In the first half we got it spot on. We were patient, and pressed at the right times, which is to the credit of the centre-forwards. They are very good at what they do.
"It was a real shift from our players. It is hard, pressing and pressing and pressing. In the second half, Sheffield United had the ball more and became a 4-3-3 and you have to defend that. Shaun Cummings was super against Che Adams - he was a lesson to watch out there for any young player. Joe Martin had a tough test against Jamal Campbell-Ryce and they kept overloading him, with two to defend against sometimes. I thought he was excellent.
"Our central two, George Saville and Ben Thompson, worked hard against theirs - any club which can pick Dean Hammond has a huge advantage, because he is excellent. But Saville and Thompson were fantastic with their athleticism and battling spirit. They reprresent what Millwall is all about. We could have used the ball better at times. But they came here, in front of 20,000; we picked a team to win and my players showed a winning mentality."
