It was officially confirmed today (Wednesday) that Reading central-midfielder James Harper has signed on the dotted line at S2, and he is overwhelmed to do so, especially with the Blades' next home clash being the Steel City Derby.
He said: "I found out that I had the opportunity to come here two or three days ago when I got a phone call from Blackie. It's a big club and I'm buzzing to be fair.
"I scored the winner here a couple of seasons ago. It is a massive club really, and I weren't playing at Reading so yeah, it's a good chance to come and play."
Speaking on the Royals, he said: "Reading is a good club, but I want to do my bit here now for the cause. I'm lucky that Blackie wants me because it's a massive club and they've already gone and beaten Reading this season.
"I've got told that the first game at Bramall Lane is the Sheff Wednesday game, the Sheffield Derby. I can't wait for that because Reading haven't really got one, so it'll be my first ever derby game. I think my ears will burst with the atmosphere created inside Bramall Lane, but I just can't wait to get going."
Commenting on United's prowess and biggest assets, he continued: "No one likes playing Sheffield United because they are hardworking, they are physically strong, they never give you a moment's rest. They've got some good players in Quinny, Monty, Morgs and Killa, and I know them all. We've got big Hendo and now Jordan Stewart, the list can go on and on.
"I can't wait to get going. I'm buzzing, I really am, and I'll work my nuts off for this club. I'm coming to a club that wants me, and it's always good when someone wants you, but I just can't wait to crack on.
"I've got the chance now, every home game in front of 30,000 fans to show them how good I am. I just can't wait to get going.
"Over the weekend, I'll go back down to Reading, do some training and sort everything out and then I'll be back up here again on Monday and Tuesday to crack on.
"I know I'm keep saying it, but I just can't wait!"
