Gray, 31 is one of the highest earns at the Valley and is likley to move away from Charlton Athletic following their relegation from the Championship last season with Barnsley looking favourites to sign him.
Addicks boss Phil Parkinson has confirmed that an approach has been made by The Championship side, Parkinson told The South London Press: "There's been an enquiry from Barnsley for Andy Gray and we`re in discussions."
The Scottish international striker was brought to Bramall Lane by Neil Warnock in February 2004, joining from Bradford City along with Simon Francis on the same day. He scored on his debut in a 2-1 defeat at reading.
He made a total of 63 (+2) appearances and scored 28 goals before being sold to Sunderland in a £1,100,000 transfer in August 2005.
