With no Premier League or Championship matches scheduled this weekend due to the World Cup Qualifiers it was left to the bottom two leagues to take centre stage and no more so ever than Sheffield United who were to face Brentford in the lunch time kick-off, live on Sky.
However, like many matches in the Country became a casualty of the overnight snow which fell heavily across Sheffield which cancelled our match with the Bees. A few miles down the road, Rotherham United saw there 'Big Apple' fixture at home to Exeter City postponed due to safety reasons.
Of the matches which took place yesterday in League One there were three scoreless draws with Swindon Town, Hartlepool United and Preston North End drawing there games with Nott's County, Walsall and Leyton Orient. At the top of the table, despite a brave comeback Bury lost 4-1 at AFC Bournemouth and 'terrible' defending from Brian Laws Scunthorpe United allowed Doncaster Rovers to take a 3-2 win at Glanford Park.
Hartlepool's point at home to Walsall will prove vital if they can stave themselves away from relegation at the end of the season whilst Coventry City may have played there last ever game - the Sky Blues could face a possible winding up order. They lost 2-0 at Fratton Park, another money-troubled side.
Without a fixture it meant that results elsewhere forced the Blades top drop to 5th in the League One table and are seven points behind leaders Doncaster Rovers, but do of course have two matches in hand over our South Yorkshire rivals - it will be important that United gain maximum points from these games.
