FA to examine Sheffield's World Cup bid

Bramall Lane is set for extenstion work in the coming years and city counterparts Sheffield Wednesday are also offering their assistance in the bid. This week Prime Minister Gordon Brown, England players Wayne Rooney and David Beckham, and plenty other well known faces were in attendance Monday afternoon at Wembley Stadium.

Sheffield's official bid was led by Doug Liversage CBE. He commented on the city's bid: "We feel confident that the city has everything that the FA and FIFA will ask of it. Sheffield's approach will focus on exceeding the FA's expectations across all criteria including the technical requirements, the support and commitment of the city's people and a gauranteed warm welcome to international football fans.
