Andy Goram came to Bramall Lane in September 1998 on a free transfer from Nott's County, though he hadn't lasted long at Meadow Lane once they acquired him from Glasgow Rangers in the same month.
He eventually played 9 competitive game for the Blades who was managed by Steve Bruce. Nigel Spackman on the other hand was a great man at the Lane and by some considered as United's best Player/Manager.
Starting his career at Chelsea he joined the Blades in July 1996, originally coming as Player/Assistant Manager to Howard Kendall. He was part of the squad that made the Play-Off Final in 1997 only to lose top Crystal Palace 1-0.
Kendall jumped ship and joined Everton in the summer, Spackman then was handed the Managers job. He lasted just 8 months at Bramall Lane. He was a manager who was given money to spend, but in the age where you needed to be in Premiership to be big spenders the Blades were forced to sell, this probably the reason why NS left Bramall Lane.
In all Nigel Spackman played 23 games for the Blades (4 as substitute) without scoring a goal.
