Ward, 25 was a free agent after being released by the Sky Blues and it was understood that the defender was close to coming to Bramall Lane - as announced on Blades-Mad yesterday morning.
It was also believed that he held talks with fellow Npower side Barnsley over a possible move to the Oakwell club.
However it emerged on canariers.co.uk; the official site of Norwich City that he had put pen to paper on a two year deal at Carrow Road.
On the capture of the defender, City boss Paul Lambert said: "He's played at a higher level and in big games for West Ham and has good experience of the Championship.
"He's a good age, has stature and presence at the back and comes with good pedigree and he'll hopefully do well with us."
