The Latics have now drawn five out of the six games played under new boss David Dunn but still find themselves in the bottom four relagtion spots after this weekend's draw.
"In the first half we were outstanding all over the pitch. You couldn't say a bad thing about any of them and I'm very happy with our performance, especially after last week. Sheffield United are a good side with clever players. They got the momentum in the second half, but we were resilient and I'm proud of the work rate.
"We can take a lot of credit for the way we performed. Our battling qualities were good, we won a lot of second balls and we won individual battles. It's a long season and we've got a big job on our hands, but I really believe we'll go on a run once we start turning our draws into wins. It might not look like we are getting very far at the moment, but the important thing is to keep progressing and become more consistent.
"If we keep playing like that, we'll have no concerns whatsoever."
