Richard Cresswell has followed Chris Morgan and Nick Montgomery in signing a new contract with the Blades.

The striker, who scored 14 goals in 30 games after signing from Stoke City last season, is the third Yorkshireman of the summer to agree an extended stay with the Blades.

Cresswell, 32, has signed a new three-year deal, taking him to the summer of 2013, whilst Morgan and Montgomery have both penned three year deals at Bramall Lane.

"I'm very pleased to get it sorted," said Cresswell. "At the end of the season the club came to me and we opened talks about a new deal and we have finally got it done, which I am over the moon about. Obviously I have followed in the foot steps of some really influential players like 'Morgs' and 'Monty', which is fantastic news for the club.

"It is a boost for the club that experienced players are committing themselves. I was in talks when the Morgs and Monty deals were ongoing so I was also pleased to see them sign new deals - it helped me make the decision to sign."

Cresswell added: "I am looking forward to pre-season and start working towards what we want to achieve. I have tasted promotion from this division before and I want to do it again.

"I've spoken to Trevor Birch, who has been fantastic with my deal, obviously I have to thank the Chairman for putting the deal forward and the Gaffer for bringing me here in the first place."

Chief Executive, Trevor Birch, added: "Richard, like Nick Montgomery and Chris Morgan, is a core player that will be part of Kevin Blackwell's plans for another assault on the Championship. He proved last season that he has an eye for a goal, whilst his experience will be a valuable asset."
