Birmingham City claimed a 2-0 victory yesterday over Sheffield Wednesday despite being reduced to ten men whilst Sunderland overcame Burnley 3-2 at the Stadium of Light last Friday.
With this in mind Derby County knew that they had to win at Selhurst Park, sadly for the Rams they threw down the gauntlet and allowed the Blues and the Black Cats a swift return to the Premiership at the first time of asking.
They do, of course claim Promotion the same way as Sheffield United did last season, after a 1-0 victory on Good Friday the Blades relied on Reading winning at least a point at Leeds United on Saturday to win promotion, the game ended 1-1.
The Rams knew their task but sadly lost 2-0 with former Birmingham striker Clinton Morrison (29) and Mark Kennedy (67) scoring the goals this afternoon.
There is still the league champions to be decided with the Blues to date winning the race with one game remaining, but the Blades will travel to the Stadium of Light and St. Andrews next season if the Blades keep their Premiership status.
