It hasn't come as much of a surprise, Beckett joined Oldham Athletic at the beginning of the season in a seasons long loan which cost them a near £50,000 with a further fee this summer should the Latics decide to buy, he was sort of on a 'try before you buy' deal.
However he has been in a rich vein of form, netting 15 goals this season and with United gunning for a place in the Premiership it is unlikely that Beckett will be part of Neil Warnock's plans when he returns to Bramall Lane.
Beckett told the Oldham Evening Chronicle: "I'm still a United player at the moment but I'll be moving somewhere else before the start of next season.
"I don't know where yet and nothing has been said by Oldham, but it's difficult until everybody knows which league they are going to be in."
