Bromby, back in the Leeds starting line-up, will return to Bramall Lane for the first time since arriving at Elland Road on a free transfer from the Blades in September 2009.
Bromby, who spent over four years with the Blades in two separate spells, said: "They're scrapping for points and it'll be a tough game but hopefully we can come out with the win.
"I'm still in contact with a few of the players and the staff and it'll be nice to see a few familiar faces but we're going there for the points."
Bromby added: "The most successful part of my career was there. It's a good club with good people and it's a shame they're in the position they are.
"It's a tough league but I'm surprised they are down there. I've never come across Micky Adams but he seems a good man and I hope he can turn it around down there and get them out of the situation they're in."
