The on-loan Barnsley man will be unavailable for United's home tie with Plymouth on Saturday due him picking up 5 yellow cards since he has been at the club. And he will also miss the game with Barnsley at Oakwell due to conditions which was agreed in his loan-deal.
Kevin Blackwell said: "There was a bit of ambiguity at the FA about how many cautions he had picked up, but he is out and it gives someone else a chance.
"Gary Speed is touch and go but I have three decent alternatives. If I play Greg (Halford) we would be more likely to play 4-4-2. We have got results using both systems which shows that we can adapt."
Matt Kilgallon returns from suspension this weekend but he is unlikely to make a swift return. Blackwell continued: "We have got three top class centre-halves and I am happy with any two of them together - they are top Championship material.
"I have said that players coming in and doing well will stay in and that situation won't change."
