Evans joins United for £3m and will pen a 3-year-contract. Meanwhile France has signed a two-year-deal and Treacy will stay with the Blades for the rest of the calendar year on a loan basis.
It seems that the Blades fought of competition from a number of top flight and second-tiered clubs for Ched Evans, as Kevin Blackwell explains:
"He's a young striker and we are delighted to have won the race for him because there was significant interest in him from two Premiership clubs and two from the Championship.
"We think the lad has a bright future and felt that it was only right to invest some of the money from the sale of two of our star youngsters into the signing of another.
"He is still maturing, still learning the game, so there is more developmental mileage in him which will benefit this club in the long term as well.
"With plenty of first team experience for City in the UEFA Cup last season he is an exciting prospect and City were reluctant to let him go.
"But, they are clearly going down a different road now and, good as he is, he would have found it difficult to get a regular game with the likes of Robinho, Tevez, Santa Cruz, Bellamy and Adebayor in front of him.
"I think our fans will take to him and give him the welcome he needs to help him hit the ground running."
All of the signings were unveiled at a press conference at the Shirecliffe Academy on Friday afternoon.
