Blades Take Howard on Trial

HowardHoward, 25 came through the famous youth ranks at Arsenal but never quite made the grade with Arsene Wenger's Gunners. He joined Cardiff City in May 2006 and made just one appearance for the then Ninnian Park club in a 2-0 home defeat to Barnet in the League Cup.

He had better success with St. Mirren - joining the Scottish club in June 2007 on a free transfer and following a three year stay capped 52 games before leaving for Aberdeen on a one year deal - he played just eight times for the Dons.

The Southwark born keeper penned a deal at Blackpool last summer and has acted as number two to Matt Gilkes, he was handed an opportunity to shine last month, playing five games which included an FA Cup win over local rivals Fleetwood Town (won 5-1) having previously made his debut at Barnsley on Boxing Day - Matty Phillips netted a hat-trick in both games.

However with limited opportunities at Bloomfield Road the 6'1 shot stopper is looking for better first team opportunities and with only Steve Simonsen as the Blades recognizable number one he may have a better time at Bramall Lane. He is currently training and is in talks about a possible move to S2.
