Albeit a month's loan, the Blades have added a quality midfielder in Sunderland's Andy Reid.
The 28-year-old rubber-stamps a deal which will keep him at Bramall Lane till the end of November.
The former Forest man has found life good when playing against the Blades over the years.
He scored in the thrilling play-off semi-final against Nottingham Forest for the Reds, and also for Charlton Athletic at Bramall Lane in our season in the Premiership four years ago.
On the acquisition, which virtually came out of the blue, Gary Speed said: "It's a big boost to have him here for a month. He is of undoubted Premiership quality and is therefore a good addition to the squad. His versatility will be very valuable to us and he is fit and ready to go."
Reid, who has made three appearances for the top-flight Black Cats this season, joins fellow Mackem Nyron Nosworthy at the club, who's with the Blades till the end of the season.
The Dubliner is available for Saturday's match against Coventry City.
