Westlake, 21 has become Danny Wilson's first permanent signing of the season following the arrival of John Cofie on loan from Manchester United. The former Walsall Full-Back arrives of on a free transfer after turning down a new deal with the Saddlers - however the Blades will have to pay compensation due to his young age.
He played in the recent 1-1 draw at Ilkeston FC which saw him play all of the second half. He has put pen to paper on a 3 year deal which will run out in July 2015.
Westlake leaves the Banks Stadium having made his senior debut in a 2-2 home draw with Southend United in August 2009 after coming through their youth ranks; he made a total of 70 (+8) appearances and scored one goal.
Meanwhile the Sheffield Star has reported that the Blades haven't made an approach for Portsmouth striker Dave Kitson; United have been linked with the former Reading and Stoke City forward for the last few months but officials at Fratton Park have revealed that they have received no inquiry from S2.
Elsewhere former United defender Andy Taylor, 26 will travel to Germany on tour with Brentford with the hope of securing a permanent deal. He played an hour for the Bees in their recent friendly with Hayes.
