The first team has already beaten the Yorkshire rivals 1-0 at Bramall Lane with a Peter Ndlovu goal and a moral boosting 2-1 victory at Millmoor, Michael Brown (penalty) and Steve Kabba netting on that occasion. Adding to that is the Blades reserves 2-0 victory at Saltergate (Blades reserves home ground).
There was not much to chose from between the Millers and the Blades as possession was 50/50 but United took a hold of the game in the second half when Rotherham failed to produce there first half form.
However it was the home side that had the first sight of goal, Tom Fletchers 25 yard shot in second minute blazed over the bar before a Darren Byfield pass split open the defence for Fletcher but he found himself offside.
Paul Warne was given a great chance to open the scoring but failed to do so, a brilliant move involving Danny Hudson, Ritchie Barker allowed the ball to be floated into the box but Warne's sliced his shot against the bumpy pitch which went wide.
United responded with a free-kick but Grant Smith's shot was just off target while Danny Hudson's long ball cross was just too far for the short Byfield.
Danny Hudson sent Ritchie barker on his way but he just managed to keep the ball in from the by-line, and the former Sheffield Wednesday striker pulled the ball to Lian Kay where his 20 yard shot fired just over the bar.
Dutch winger Marcel Cas almost scored his second reserves goal for Blades this season but Millers trialist keeper Brian Murphy saved well. On 34th minute United came really close to scoring when Ryan Mallon was clear of goal but shot over the bar.
The score ended 0-0 at half time but the first half was dampened by the news of Steve Yates, who looks to have upset his calf injury which he has only just returned to, Kevin Murphy was Yates replacment.
Three minutes into the second half the Blades had the best chance so far to take the lead, Mallon again wasted the chance yet again with a shot that hit over the bar before United took the lead. Talbot made a very poor clearance which fell to MARCEL CAS who fired home past Murphy to take the lead.
Fletcher was let lose again on the left wing and when supplied a cross to Paul Warne, Warne looked certain to score only to be denied by Gary Kelly.
Shortly after that missed Millers chance, United made it 2-0 on 80 minutes when RYAN MALLON had his first shot blocked but managed to bundle home the rebound before MACEL CAS scored with ease to complete a brace of goals.
