Dutch defender Marcel Seip has agreed terms with Sheffield United to join for the remainder of the season on loan from Plymouth Argyle. The 27-year-old was on loan at Blackpool earlier this season and actually scored the Tangerines' opening goal in a 3:0 rout over the Blades in October.
Seip can play in many positions in the defence. The Argyle defender's move to S2 should be confirmed on January the 1st, and his loan spell will end on the 2nd of May where United entertain Ipswich at Portman Road and promotion could be on the cards. However, if United finish in the play-offs for the second season running, they do have the option to extend Seip's loan to make him eligible to feature in the play-offs.
Plymouth have included an agreement in the loan deal, though. Seip will be unavailable for the Blades when Argyle come to town in February.
Paul Marriner, Argyle head coach, said: "Marcel is delighted with the move. Sheffield United are a very good team, a very strong team and he's going to a great staff with Kevin Blackwell and Gary Speed, so it's best for both of us."
Seip will be available for Sunday's FA Cup tie against QPR.
