Clubs are usually denied the signing of a player because of the player's refusal or he opts to go to another club, but recently, agents have been the stumbling block of player's moves from one club to another. This is exactly what has occurred when Sheffield United attempted to secure the services of Henri Camara and possibly Fabrice Pancrate. It makes Blades boss Kevin Blackwell angry and wished agents stayed well away from the game.
"We put an offer in to Camara's agent but he's got about four different agents working for him", said Blackwell. "We don't even know who it's gone to! It's absolute nonsense all of this agency, absolute nonsense.
"It should have been a quite simple situation. The lad's out of contract, and you would've though he'd have took the opportunity. Another trialist we had in last week - his agent wanted more than the player! This agency thing has gone out of the window - it's a nightmare."
Blackie was asked if there could be anything done about this, and he replied: "Yeah, shoot them all! We should be getting rid of agents. Most of these agents now are most concerned about what's in it for them.
"It's totally wrong and the people who run football have made massive errors over this Bosman Ruling. The amount of money that's gone out of the game when we need it in it - well, it's just wrong.
"Now, the decision isn't made on whether it will make the player better, it's decided on whether it makes the agent a little bit richer - it infuriates me."
