The former Bury shot-stopper has now been with the Blades for 7 seasons and has undoubtedly made his name at Bramall Lane. Contract talks with the Irishman could happen in the near future.
Gaffer Kevin Blackwell said: "I want Paddy to be positive on the pitch and I have told him that. As well as pulling off wonderful saves, he takes the pressure off his defence by being positive - he's a fantastic goalkeeper.
"Since I came back to the club, Paddy has got an aura about that he didn't have when I was first here. He's better, fitter, knows the game, is more confident and I'm surprised and happy that no top clubs have come in for him.
"Someone within the game commented to me recently after they had watched him train that they didn't realise how good he is. I've worked worked some top class goalkeepers and there are not many better in the Premier League.
"I'm going to sit down and talk about an extended contract because we want his for longer - he is still in early phrases of the mature stage of goalkeeping, his best years are still ahead of him."
The Republic Of Ireland goalkeeper hasn't featured as an International for some years now, as Kevin Blackwell explains:
"I think Ireland have read the wrong script. Paddy had some problems at home and correctly asked for time to sort his head out. Maybe they have taken his request as a message that he doesn't want to play for the country, but they couldn't be more wrong."
