Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell has revealed that he rejected two moves from managerless Swansea for Gary Speed because he wanted to keep his current backroom staff intact. Blackwell has already been forced to replace a number of physios and fitness coaches in the close season and the Blades boss told BBC Radio Sheffield that he was desperate to hold on to the first-team coach. "We've dealt with the situation, Gary is staying and that's all I'm worried about," Blackwell said. "At this moment in time I would be loath to lose a senior member of staff so close to the beginning of the season." Speed was linked to the Swans post after being interviewed for the same job last summer, but Blackwell has already blocked two approaches from the Welsh side. He added: "Gary is a level-headed lad, he wants to learn, and he can, and he's thoroughly enjoying his time here. "We believe that Gary will be staying with us for next season and we're delighted with that."
