Blackie recalled Howard to the side after being left out a Crystal Palace, and the gaffer admits that he does play better in a 4-3-3 formation. He said:
"He had his best game for Sheffield United (on Friday night). I think he performed brilliantly because everyone else was on their game as well.
"He arguably plays better in a three, but to be fair he hasn't had a good go in a 4-4-2 formation because Quinny and Monty have been excellent, but I do prefer Brian to play in a three.
"Brian seems to shine in the big games, but to get to the big games you have to do the bread and butter stuff, but I want players who can rise in all occasions."
