Sharp, 29 celebrated his third spell at his boyhood club Sheffield United with a goal on his debut in the 4-0 win at Macclesfield Town on Wednesday night. He had been signed by Nigel Adkins (for a fourth time) last Friday for an undisclosed fee from Yorkshire rivals Leeds United.
He was linked with a move to the S6 side in 2007 whilst at Scunthorpe United but eventually that summer he was snapped up for £2,000,000 by then Blades boss Bryan Robson and again in 2013 former owls boss Dave Jones attempted to bring the then Southampton striker in on loan - twice he refused.
"That was never going to happen. Never," said Sharp. "Put it in the papers or wherever you want, it was never going to happen. Twice I had the opportunity. I went to speak with Brian Laws when the (Hillsborough) pitch was under water, but I was going to go to Wolves then anyway until Sheff United came in."
