The Blades remain second from bottom in the table, six points adrift of safety, following Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Derby, leaving Adams still searching for his first win in charge after 12 matches.
But the 49-year-old is not ready to throw in the towel and points to Coventry's great escape when he was playing at left-back for the club.
Adams said: "Although I don't like talking about me as a player at Coventry we had to win our last four games to stay up.
"Draws wouldn't do, but we managed it. So wherever there is hope we keep going."
Adams added: "I have to lift the boys off the deck. They're hurting in there and they do care. Our supporters were fantastic (against Derby) and we do need them because we have another 12 cup finals."
