Adams, installed as Gary Speed's replacement at the end of December, is still waiting for his first win as Blades boss after 11 matches.
Adams said: "There are people in that dressing room who don't know how to win a game.
"I really don't like losing football matches, I'm embarrassed by my record here, and I'm big enough to say that I'll take my share of responsibility for where we are.
"But I've said to the players that there have been four managers here this season, so the players have also got to take responsibility as well."
