United have been drawn away for the first game of the season for the past two seasons - Birmingham and Middlesbrough away respectively. Incidentally, both of these games kicked off the Championship season as a whole and were both televised also.
Boxing Day games and the final game of every season are one of the first fixtures fans turn their attentions to. Of course, there'll be no Steel City Derby next year with our neighbours' drop, but there will be local ties against Barnsley, Doncaster, Nottingham Forest, Derby, Scunthorpe, Leeds and Hull, and trips across the Pennines to Preston and Burnley await, with the latter deserving revenge!
