There was bad news to start the month of November; the club would learn that Michael Tonge would be sidelined for three to four weeks with an ankle injury. Tonge was carried off the field just seven minutes into the clash with Chelsea at Bramall Lane in the previous game.
Neil Warnock and his team travelled to St. James Park in front of a strong 50,000 and on live TV and recorded their first away win of the season. Nick Montgomery producing a fine cross for Danny Webber to head home a 68th minute winner.
After that convincing win in the North East the Blades dragged themselves out of the relegation zone with a 2-2 home draw with Bolton Wanderers. United came from two goals down to draw the tie with Rob Hulse and Colin Kazim-Richards getting on the score sheet.
United then got off to a good start the following game when Keith Gillespie headed home ten minutes into the game against Manchester United but England international Wayne Rooney struck a brace to hurt the home fans hearts.
It could have been an historic victory had woeful defending allowed the former Everton strike to capitalize, and in the second game would go three games without a win when Hayden Mullins headed home from a corner to give West Ham United hope of retaining Premiership survival.
However the Blades got back to a winning way when Danny Webber headed home (in an offside position) against his former club Watford on Live TV to hand the Bramall Lane club all three points.
